I never thought of myself as a startup person, but I now find myself in the unusual position of having founded a new space startup (funny how that works).
Anyway, welcome to EraDrive! Bringing about the new autonomous age of space. You can read all about us in a SpaceNews article or see some technology we’re developing (here and here) or even visit a very early website. Our goal is to make every spacecraft self-driving, via both individual software/hardware payloads and global space traffic management frameworks, to make satellites more capable and space more sustainable. As CTO, I’m looking forward to turning the EraDrive vision into reality…. and we already have some exciting stuff ready to fly on the NASA Ames Starling mission later this year.
Personally, I’d never have decided to do this unless I believed in the idea and believed we could make it happen. A lot of that comes down to the team, including CEO Sumant Sharma and CSO Simone D’Amico. I’ve had so much fun working at the Stanford Space Rendezvous Laboratory over the past 5+ years and it’s an immense privilege to bring that energy to commercial space with my fellow SLAB members, as EraDrive’s CTO (wow… my very own acronym…).
Look out for more news soon! Or, if you’re in need of a spacecraft autonomy solution with years of flight heritage from the Stanford Space Rendezvous Lab, please contact us.
